Anoka Hennepin Education Minnesota Members are currently NOT on strike.
Students First in Anoka-Hennepin
The future of the Anoka-Hennepin Public School District is shaped daily by our students in classrooms, hallways, and school communities throughout the district. They deserve stable, supportive learning environments and educators who can focus on teaching, rather than worrying about how they will afford healthcare or whether they will need to leave the district to support their own families.
For months, Anoka Hennepin Education Minnesota and the district have been negotiating a new contract. Educators are being asked to absorb steep increases in health insurance or forgo meaningful salary growth. That isn’t a real choice. And it’s one that ultimately hurts students.
Anoka-Hennepin’s health insurance is already unaffordable for many educators, especially those raising families. When rising costs force educators out, students lose trusted adults, and schools lose stability.
Strong schools depend on educators who can afford to build long careers in the communities they serve.
Strike Authorization
Anoka Hennepin Education Minnesota members are currently voting at polling sites across the district through Saturday, December 20, on whether to authorize a strike.
No one wants to go on strike. Educators want to be in their classrooms supporting students. But when district leadership refuses to address rising healthcare costs and competitive pay, it becomes harder to keep experienced educators in our schools. Our students and our community deserve leadership that listens, invests in stability, and chooses solutions that strengthen classrooms rather than push educators out.
